Composition:

Crataegusoxycantha (hawthorn) fruits – 100 g

Ethanol 70% - in quantity sufficient to produce 1000 ml of tincture

 Description

 A transparent liquid varying in color from light-brown to dark-brown, original odor.

Pharmacotherapeutical Group

Cardiotonicremedy of plant origin.

 Pharmacological properties

It has mild cardiotonic, antispasmodic,sedative action.

 Indications

Hawthorn tincture is used in complex therapy of functional heart disorders, cardialgia, menopause, asthenic-neurotic states.

 Contra-indications

Hypersensitivity to the drug, pregnancy, lactation, children under 12 years.

 Directions and dosage

Adults may use orally 20-30 drops 3-4 times a day before meals. Course of treatment is 20-30 days.

Children over 12 years old may use 10-15 drops 3-4 times a day before meals. Course of treatment is 20-30 days.

 Side effects

Rarely may cause allergic reactions (hives, itching). Prolonged use of high doses can cause bradycardia and arterial hypotension.

 Other medicines interactions

Combined use of tincture of hawthorn and cardiac glycosides (Strofantin, Digoxin and others) enhancescardiotoniceffect.

50 – or 100 ml in orange-colored glass bottles.

 Storage Conditions

Store in a dark place, temperature not above 25° C.

Store out of reach of children.
